Statement from Yorkshire Choice Founders, Melanie Malcolm & Joanne Maltby
The Yorkshire Choice Awards announced last March the postponement of the 2020 awards ceremony in light of the current Covid-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak.
The annual red-carpet event – which celebrates Yorkshire’s finest achievers was due to take place at a glittering Gala Dinner at Elland Road on Saturday 14th March 2020. The ceremony has now been rescheduled to take place at The Centenary Pavilon, Elland Road on Saturday 3rd July 2021 and will continue to support chosen charity Simon on the Streets.
Co-Founder Melanie Malcolm said: "We are so excited to announce the winners and celebrate with everyone next year. It was with great sadness that we decided to postpone our prestigious awards ceremony. Our number one priority was and still is the health and safety of our nominees and guests and like many other organisations we have had to make the decision to reschedule the ceremony until a more suitable time”
Co-Founder Jo Maltby also commented “Charities across the UK have struggled through the pandemic and none more so than our chosen charity, Simon on The Streets. As they continue to adapt to provide hope for those without a voice, a new date to look forward to will also provide hope of much needed funding from the money we raise at our Gala Dinner”
The rescheduled ceremony on 3rd July will be recognising our 2020 winners and finalists, voted for by the general public. We will be celebrating excellence from across the region in a wide range of categories that cover inspiration, fundraising, sport and business, together with sharing some outstanding achievements, the winners will be announced alongside performances by well-known local artists that continue to support the event.
Ticketholders will be contacted shortly with an offer to exchange their tickets for the rescheduled date or offered a refund.
Nominations and voting for the 2020 Yorkshire Choice Awards is now closed and we will not be announcing any shortlist until the Awards Gala Dinner in July 2021.
We would just like to thank you all for your ongoing support, wish everyone good health and continued good luck in our awards.
