Celebrating the Yorkshire heroes who make a difference every day

We all know a hero, they can be found in all walks of life, from community leaders and volunteers to business owners and educators. They are the ones who work tirelessly to make our community a better place, often without recognition or fanfare.

This is about to change!

Yorkshire has been nominating its local heroes for several months now, and an independent panel of adjudicators has finished evaluating the nominees put forward. A task that is not easy to accomplish.

The official announcement will be made on February 3rd, as the nominees who have been selected for the public vote will be notified via email with some exciting news!

"We are excited to recognise the hard work and dedication of these local heroes," said Jo Maltby and Melanie Malcolm, Co-founders of the Awards. "The nominees truly represent the best of Yorkshire, and we are thrilled for the public to have the opportunity to vote for their favourites. The public vote will go live on 4th February and Yorkshire has the power to decide who will win.”

Co-host Christa Ackroyd along with Christine Talbot, Duncan Wood, Tim Bilton, Stephanie Hirst and Lizzie Jones MBE are just some of the Yorkshire celebrity hosts presenting awards with more set to confirm in the coming weeks.

Tim Bilton said, “What a huge honour it will be to attend”.

And there is more with Macy Burrow set to take centre stage

Macy Burrow, the eldest daughter of Rob Burrow, MBE and 2022 winner of the Yorkshire Choice Young Achiever of the Year Award, will be performing on stage at the Awards Gala Dinner.

Macy is currently a student at Scala Performing Arts School in Horsforth, Leeds, and is already an accomplished young performer at just 11 years old. She was recently named Youngster of the Year at the West Yorkshire Playhouse's production of Strictly Ballroom and recently performed in the chorus of the 2022 production of Dick Whittington at the Theatre Royal, Wakefield, so you are in for a real treat on 9th June.

"Macy embodies the spirit of the awards, and we can't wait to see her shine on stage," said Jo Maltby and Melanie Malcolm, Co-founders of the Awards

Macy is excited to have been asked to perform for the Yorkshire Choice Awards and said she is delighted to be part of such a prestigious fundraising event.

Rob Burrow commented “I am thrilled to be attending this year’s Yorkshire Choice Awards, in recognition of Yorkshire’s inspirational heroes. I will be the proudest Dad on the planet, seeing my eldest daughter Macy perform and do what she loves to do most”.
