Filmmakers Scott Elliott and Sid Sadowskyj have joined forces with this year’s Yorkshire Choice Awards to sponsor a special award.
Recognising local heroes and businesses who are an inspiration in their field, the Yorkshire Choice awards celebrate the county’s finest. This year the Bradford-born duo, who wrote, directed and produced their own film, will sponsor the Yorkshire Media Personality Award.
The award is for an individual who uses their name and personality to appeal to others and uses their own experiences to help others.
Scott Elliott, said: “It’s great to be involved with such an inspirational awards show that truly celebrates the people who go out of their way to make this county a better place.”
Co-creator Sid Sadowskyj, added: “The Yorkshire Media Personality Award will be given to someone who has demonstrated determination in the face of difficulties, a motto that is echoed in our feature film. We’re both very excited to see the nominations and present the award to the winner on the night!”
Melanie Malcolm from Yorkshire Choice, said “We’re so proud to have the guys on board, having never written a movie before and get 4 star reviews in Total Film, Daily Express, The Upcoming and Hey You Guys is an incredible achievement, they really are an inspiration to us all”
In just two years, The Yorkshire Choice Awards have grown considerably, celebrating inspirational Yorkshire folk and donating over £20,000 to local charities. The chosen charity for 2018 is Leeds-based St Gemma’s Hospice, who provide expert care and support to local people with life-threatening illnesses.
Jo Maltby from Yorkshire Choice, said: “It’s great to have two Yorkshire-born filmmakers support our awards. Many of our nominees are dreamchasers in their own right and it will be great to recognise the winner for all their hard work.”
