Introducing Bethany Hare

We are honoured to have Bethany Hare, one of Yorkshire’s finest young achievers perform at our Yorkshire Choice Awards Gala Dinner next month.

Bethany Hare is in Year 13 at Horsforth School. At 12 years of age she set up a charity called Bethany’s Smile. This then followed with two years of fundraising for Martin House Children’s Hospice where she made a short Charlie Chaplin style video and organised 4 Walk Of Smiles events. In total she raised £30,000. Bethany then decided to set up her own charity to enable her to support children outside the hospice and has now set a target of raising £300,000 to build a holiday respite home called Smile Cottage. She has organised various events over the last 6 years including fashion shows, concerts and fayres. Her efforts have now raised over £100k.

In recognition of her fundraising Bethany has been awarded the following awards during the last 8 years:

  • Kids Count Most Inspirational Young Person 2011

  • British Red Cross Humanitarian Citizen of the Year 2012

  • Diana Award – Champion Fundraiser 2012

  • Yorkshire Child of Courage and Achievement – 2013

  • Just Giving Young Fundraiser of the Year – 2011

  • Rotary Leeds – Service Above Self Award

  • Rotary GB& I National Young Citizen Award

  • Institute of Fundraising – Young Fundraiser of the Year

  • Rotary International – Paul Harris Fellowship

Bethany often performs at the INSPIRE days for the Diana Award and also has performed at the House of the Belgian Ambassador in Belgravia. Most recently, Bethany performed for Prince William and Prince Harry at St James’s Palace at the Legacy Awards which were held to mark 20 years since Princess Diana’s death.

At the end of March Bethany will be performing at a charity event at The Shard just 2 weeks before she entertains our Yorkshire Choice guests.
