A STEETON nursing home has been nominated for an award.
Steeton Court, run by Spellman Care, is a contender in the Yorkshire Choice Awards.
The home's nomination, in the Community Arts Award category, is for its work supporting residents with their artistic interests.
After discovering a resident's passion for photography, Steeton Court staff organised a photographic tour, visiting museums, railways and the countryside.
Steeton Court is also home to several keen artists, who meet several times a week to paint, colour and draw.
Home manager, Alison Grice, says: "I’m incredibly proud that Steeton Court has been nominated for this award. Art is a great way for residents to look after their mental health and is known to provide pleasure and reduce anxiety for those living with dementia."
Public voting in the awards is now open, at yorkshirechoiceawards.co.uk/votehere
Finalists and winners will be announced at a gala dinner on June 7.
