Campaigning dad Paul is also back in the running...

A DAD to disabled and epileptic twins has been nominated for the second year in a row for the Yorkshire Choice Awards.

Paul Atwal-Brice, of Thurnscoe, has been campaigning with his husband Michael for their identical adopted twins Levi and Lucas, who both suffer from epilepsy and are autistic, to have access to cannabis-based medication Epidiolex.

The campaigning has been a success, with Levi now taking the medication, but both Paul and Michael want Lucas to also get access to it.

He was fostered and in children’s homes himself until being adopted at the age of seven.

Speaking about being nominated for The Yorkshire Choice Awards - a ceremony which recognises individuals, businesses and organisations who are an inspiration in their field - Paul said: “I am absolutely delighted, but the thing is I don’t think I am doing anything different to what any other parent does, I just want the best for my kids.

“It’s all about making a difference. If we can do something, that’s what it’s all about, and if we can help parents along the way, that’s great. We do our best to raise awareness about hidden disabilities and illnesses. The more we include people the better.

“I still think a lot of work needs to be done on that.”
