Easingwold teenage driving sensation nominated for two Yorkshire Choice Award honours following Brit

Following his historic success in becoming the youngest-ever Britcar Dunlop Endurance Championship and National Endurance champion, Easingwold teenager, Matt Greenwood, has been nominated for two Yorkshire Choice Awards.

The 16-year-old is up for the Young Achiever of the Year and Sporting Achievement of the Year prizes following an unprecedented year of success, alongside Tockwith Motorsports (TMS) team-mate, Sarah Moore.

The pair, driving the Whitworth Chemist-sponsored Ginetta G50, secured podium finishes in every single round of the 14-race championship, to claim the title by 12 points. The feat all the more remarkable, given Matt was competing in his first senior season of motor racing and vying with vastly-more experienced drivers.

His maturity and calmness, combined with raw speed and racecraft was pivotal and proved decisive in him and Sarah securing the top honour. Now, Matt has set his sights on winning yet another prize – in the shape of a Yorkshire Choice award double.

He said: “It is a great honour to have been nominated for these awards, to be recognised by your home county. Competition to become a finalist will be tough, and I am incredibly grateful to those that have voted for me already. To win this would be a wonderful way to end the season!”

To crown Matt of either of the Young Achiever of the Year or Sporting Achievement of the Year awards, visit www.yorkshirechoiceawards.co.uk/votehere and select ‘Matt Greenwood’ in the categories identified.

Voting closes on the 1st March, 2019.
